25 years of professional career in the banking and financial industry
For over 25 years, Toronto’s Sean St. John has provided the banking and financial world with his knowledge and expertise. Sean is currently the Executive Vice President, Managing Director, Head of Fixed Income and Co-Head of Risk Management Solutions at National Bank Financial.
Sean graduated with honors from York University in 1990 with a degree in business administration. After completing his education, he accepted a position at Burns and Fry in 1991, where he served as a Junior Bond Trader. He then transitioned to Richardson Greenshields, where he worked as a Corporate Bond Trader until moving to National Bank in 1996.
Sean St. John has spent the last two decades at National Bank, helping lead the development and growth of the company’s fixed income group into a top ranked Canadian underwriter. As a member of the bank’s executive management team, he is responsible for all aspects of the fixed income division, including sales and trading, interest rate derivatives, debt capital markets and infrastructure finance.
Outside of his responsibilities at National Bank, Sean is passionate about giving back and is highly active in a range of Toronto and national community organizations. He is Co-Founder of the Social Impact Film and Art (SIFA) Festival, a member of the Canadian Advisory Board for Right to Play, and is on the Board of Governors for Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer. He is also a member of the Investment Committee and a proud supporter of the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation, as well as a Committee Chair and Major Individual Giving Cabinet Member for United Way.
Sean St. John’s interests outside of work include playing hockey, lacrosse, rugby and boxing. He also enjoys practicing yoga and spending time up in his cottage. He is an avid art collector with interests in French-Canadian art and contemporary photography.
